Alternative product fits

01

General AI assistant

ChatGPT

You want to evaluate OpenAI's general assistant and product ecosystem.

Verify: The selected product surface, model, tools, data controls, and task results.
02

General AI assistant

Gemini

Google services or Gemini developer surfaces are material to the workflow.

Verify: The account, model, product surface, region, and connected-source behavior.
03

AI answer engine

Perplexity

Visible web sources are more important than a general workspace assistant.

Verify: Whether each citation actually supports the generated statement.
04

AI coding assistant

GitHub Copilot

The decision is specifically about repository-centered software development.

Verify: IDE and repository support, permissions, tests, security, and human review time.

Switching checklist

  1. Separate dissatisfaction with a model from dissatisfaction with an interface or workflow.
  2. Hold task inputs and reviewer rubric constant across candidates.
  3. Record tools, context, model identity, and account tier for each run.
  4. Review export, deletion, retention, and integration changes.
  5. Keep a human approval path until the replacement is proven on real work.

Latest releases

IndexNow proof-origin protocol fix

Production Bing validation exposed HTTP 500 at the external root proof because TLS termination was followed by an internal rewrite using the wrong protocol. This release corrects that rewrite boundary, but remains unverified until the external proof returns HTTP 200, the automatic submission runs, a later canary returns HTTP 200, and the idempotent rerun passes.

IndexNow root-proof request compatibility

After v4.3.3, the exact root-level {key}.txt proof returned HTTP 200, but a full request carrying keyLocation still returned HTTP 403; a minimal homepage request with the same production key and no keyLocation returned HTTP 202. This release omits that field, while the automatic full run and idempotent rerun remain deployment checks.

IndexNow key-proof compatibility

Changed IndexNow verification to the official root-level {key}.txt convention after the first production notification returned HTTP 403; revalidation remains pending, while the website, sitemaps, and Bing sitemap processing are unaffected.
