What it is
NotebookLM organizes a project around sources selected by the user. Google documents support for formats such as PDFs, web pages, audio, Google files, and other common documents, with chat answers tied back to notebook sources through citations.
Use it as a reading and synthesis surface, not as proof that a source is correct. A reliable pilot preserves the source set, checks cited passages, records inaccessible or stale material, and reviews every generated artifact before reuse.
