Runway

A generative media workspace for creating and editing video, images, audio, and multi-step creative workflows.

Editorially reviewedVerified 2026-08-112 official or primary sources

What it is

Runway provides generative media tools centered on video creation and editing, with additional image, audio, agent, app, API, and workflow surfaces. Its official help center documents text- and image-guided video generation and iterative creative sessions.

A production evaluation should use a shot list and acceptance rubric. Measure prompt and reference adherence, temporal consistency, edit locality, export quality, review effort, and the rights attached to every source and generated asset.

Worth evaluating for

  • Video concepting, storyboards, and controlled shot experiments
  • Prompt-directed edits to owned footage with human post-production
  • Creative teams testing repeatable generative media workflows

What to measure

  • Subject, camera, motion, and temporal consistency across each shot
  • Whether edits preserve elements that were meant to remain unchanged
  • Export, provenance, source-rights, and disclosure requirements for the workflow

Decision cautions

  • Available models and creative surfaces change; preserve exact generation settings.
  • Video can introduce flicker, continuity errors, distorted details, or unintended content.
  • Generated and uploaded media require rights, likeness, safety, and brand review.

Version · v4.3.4-indexnow-root-proof

Latest releases

IndexNow root-proof request compatibility

After v4.3.3, the exact root-level {key}.txt proof returned HTTP 200, but a full request carrying keyLocation still returned HTTP 403; a minimal homepage request with the same production key and no keyLocation returned HTTP 202. This release omits that field, while the automatic full run and idempotent rerun remain deployment checks.

IndexNow key-proof compatibility

Changed IndexNow verification to the official root-level {key}.txt convention after the first production notification returned HTTP 403; revalidation remains pending, while the website, sitemaps, and Bing sitemap processing are unaffected.

Bing sitemap discovery and IndexNow change notifications

Prepared canonical sitemap discovery for Bing and added automatic IndexNow change notifications while keeping segmented sitemaps authoritative and making no claim that a notified URL has been crawled or indexed.
