Alternative product fits

01

AI research assistant

Elicit

Structured literature discovery and evidence extraction are central to the review protocol.

Verify: Corpus coverage, inclusion criteria, extracted fields, source passages, uncertainty, and repeatability.
02

AI academic search

Consensus

A question-led scientific search surface belongs in the discovery stage.

Verify: Query interpretation, study coverage and selection, source access, claim support, and domain-expert review.
03

AI research assistant

NotebookLM

The team already has a curated paper or source set to interrogate.

Verify: Supported sources, access boundaries, citations, contradictory findings, missing answers, and sharing.
04

AI answer engine

Perplexity

The research question also needs current web sources beyond academic literature.

Verify: Primary-source coverage, source types, dates, citation entailment, and separation of research from commentary.

Switching checklist

  1. Define the allowed corpus and the authority level expected for material claims.
  2. Use the same dated questions and source expectations for every candidate.
  3. Review citation presence, source authority, entailment, coverage, and inaccessible sources separately.
  4. Test permission boundaries and missing-answer behavior before connecting private material.
  5. Keep an editorial reviewer and a recheck date for time-sensitive conclusions.

IndexNow proof-origin protocol fix

Production Bing validation exposed HTTP 500 at the external root proof because TLS termination was followed by an internal rewrite using the wrong protocol. This release corrects that rewrite boundary, but remains unverified until the external proof returns HTTP 200, the automatic submission runs, a later canary returns HTTP 200, and the idempotent rerun passes.

IndexNow root-proof request compatibility

After v4.3.3, the exact root-level {key}.txt proof returned HTTP 200, but a full request carrying keyLocation still returned HTTP 403; a minimal homepage request with the same production key and no keyLocation returned HTTP 202. This release omits that field, while the automatic full run and idempotent rerun remain deployment checks.

IndexNow key-proof compatibility

Changed IndexNow verification to the official root-level {key}.txt convention after the first production notification returned HTTP 403; revalidation remains pending, while the website, sitemaps, and Bing sitemap processing are unaffected.
